Cover up please: Dress right campaign gets response

My opinion:

Looking at the pictures above I don't see anything wrong but to the residents and emirates of the UAE they do. I don't think expats should have to cover up to visit or work in the country since they are not of the culture.

I'd love to get some comments and feed back on this article.

Thanks!

Thank god you left!!! Your ignorance is only outweighed by your arrogance. You MUST respect each country and culture you visit or intend to visit. American ideals are not the epitome of the world and I'm offended by your comments concerning a culture you OBVIOUSLY have no understanding of. Stick to what you know and are comfortable with...violence, drugs, poverty, and the occassional trip to Six Flags for your family vacations. Good riddance and don't come back!!!

No violence, drugs, or poverty in Abu Dhabi? Are you kidding?

Nannies being raped and beaten on a regular basis. Labor camps where nobody has been paid for over a year. Drugs? Please! You can get yourself drugs and a hooker any night of the week.

Add in being treated like you're in a caste system based upon one's nationality, the high level of traffic danger, ADEC being one of the poorest run organizations in the world, the utter lack of humility among the locals, and I could go on and on.

Yes, you have oil.....and money....and Zayed would be rolling over in his grave if he could see what his people are doing to his country.

The glory of UAE is a façade. The people who enjoy Abu Dhabi are typically enjoying the things it has imported from other cultures.

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate that someone else could see and observe the things/issues that I did. No country is perfect but it is good to be aware of the positives, negatives and realities of a given place. :)

While I am appalled by your lack f respect for another culture, I appreciate you sharing your perspective.. Most of the blogs I've read only focus on the positives. A director for the program stated, "cowards need not apply." For anyone getting ready to go over there, it's a good idea to be prepared for challenges and confident you have the strength to endure. An open mind, patience and cultural sensitivity are essential. While I believe I can succeed as a teacher for ADEC, I would return home if my family could not join me. Thanks for posting.
